Behavior Management & Strategies
Another management technique that we use in the classroom is the POPSICLE STICK. Every morning when the students come in they all put a green stick in their pocket that has their name at the back of the classroom board. The green stick is for HAPPY FACE (GOOD JOB), yellow stick is for HAPPY FACE (FOLLOW DIRECTION), red stick is for STRAIGHT FACE (LOSE RECESS/ FILL-OUT BEHAVIOR PLAN, blue stick is for SAD FACE (CALL HOME), and purple stick is for SAD FACE (REFERRAL TO OFFICE).
These are the rules in the classroom and some of the classroom management that we use in our classroom. One of the ways that we get students attention is the "GIVE ME FIVE". When the teacher says GIVE ME FIVE the students should already know what to do. So when the teacher says 1, the students touch their eyes (eyes on the speaker), 2 hands touching their lips (mouths quiet), 3 hands on ears ( ears listening), 4 hands clean and up (hands free), and 5 hands together (in learning position.

Computer Area for students to take their Accelerated Reading AR quizzes after they finishing each story book. While on taking the AR quiz students sign up and then read and answer the questions the best they can from what they understand from the story they have read about independently.
The plasma T.V. screen is very handy because I can use it as a projector to show my students examples of whatever content I'm teaching. For example, Safari Montage. This a really cool site because it has everything on it like, powerpoint presentation, video images, and even quizzes for that content you are teaching for whatever grade level.
These are some the technology that we use in the classroom to make the students learning experience more meaningful to them.

Journal Writing: Every Monday to Thursday morning after doing all the morning routines, students write in their journal before moving DI.
Instruction Direction (DI):From 8:00 am to 9:00 I teach two DI groups. Group 1 which is consists of 5 students and Group 2 is consist of 9 students.
Test: Test are usually given every Friday or if the week is short, then the test is either given the following week on a Tuesday or on Wednesday.
Professional Growth
Staff Professional Developments:SVES staff professional developments usually occurs every other wednesdays in the schools cafeteria. While on board with the canary staff and teachers I had the opportunity to take part in some of its staff development as well as the state wide professional development at MHS. The first staff PD that I took part in was presented by Ms. Carleen R. Saures and Ms. Carmela Sablan and the topic for the PD was "LISTENING". In addition, the second staff PD was a continuation of the first PD and the other staff PD that we had as done by Ms. Cathy Pagapular assisted by Ms. Diane, Ms. Sherwin and I. The topic of the staff PD was on "LEARNING CENTER". It was interesting to know that not all the teachers in SVES were not familiar with what a LEARNING CENTER is. It was a pleasure to be a part of this presentation and share with other teachers how LEARNING CENTERS can be of great accommodations for both
teachers and students in the classroom. It was a great PD because there were different learning centers already set up in different areas according to different grade levels that the teachers in the school can be able to not only know about what a learning center is use for and get a hands-on on the different activities that can be displayed for students to work on when done with their classwork. In addition, aside from our school level PD, there is the State Wide Professional Development which was held on February 1, 2009 at the Marianas High School. While there I had the opportunity to sign up for the "Human Resource Office seminar conducted by Annie Mendiola, and the other as the "Student Management Strategies by Lisa Kisling.
Grade Level Meetings: all the first grade teachers usually meet on Tuesdays or when need to discuss about other important events coming up.
Child Study Team: So far I had the opportunity to be a part of a child study team for two of my our first grade students.
Report Card Day: During third quarter's Report Card day which was held April 16th, 2009 from 3-5 pm was a great learning experience for me and to meet and speak to my students parents.

My classroom is truly a diverse classroom because i have students with different ethnicity from around the world. I have students who are Chamorro,Carolinian, American, Thailand, Filipino, and Pohnapian.
